ⴰⵣⵓⵍ!

Azul! ‘hello!’

My name is Dounya Bilal.

I am a Amazigh American woman descended from the Sahrawis people of Morocco.

Oucham is the home of all my forms of artistic expression and exploration. The word comes from the Amazigh language Tamazight meaning, “to mark”. Its direct meaning refers to the historic practice of body and facial tattooing practiced by Amazigh women for generations.

In my own interpretation I have claimed Oucham to describe my artistic practice; the marks I make through acts of artistic expression.

The purpose of Oucham will continue to flow with me as I develop as an artist. Thank you for taking the time to view my work
