My name is Dounya Bilal.

I am a Moroccan and Amazigh woman and come from the Sahrawis people. I came into tattooing as a means of expression and reconnecting with my cultural heritage.

Oucham is the home of all my forms of artistic expression and exploration. The word comes from the Amazigh language Tamazight meaning, “to mark”. Its direct meaning refers to the practice of body and facial tattooing practiced by Amazigh women for generations. In my own interpretation I have claimed Oucham to describe my artistic practice; the marks I make through acts of artistic expression.
